hello Alumni's and Students,

We see a total lack of emotional connect to Brand IBS among all of us. IbsRocks intends to bridge this gap.It would take time - lot of time perhaps. But we hope we will be able to make a difference

Please Read this http THE TIES that BIND

Lets make an honest effort to come together and interact with batchmates, seniors and juniors.

We can make a difference

PostPosted: Thu Dec 20, 2007 1:26 pm    Post subject: Three Reasons To Support, Why Networking Is Required? Reply with quote

Fellow Managers & Friends!

In this age of Cut-Throat Competition & Impeachment, One has his family at the back to support oneself, and this one of the biggest draw as also a possible reason to say, Why Networking is Required?

Three Reasons to support the cause, are as under:

1. When you are long gone from this place, which we call the Mecca of Business Edeucation (well, atleast for us!), and there is no soul who knows your name, that you existed in this institution, then I think that you will be doomed and this glut will not let you live in peace, because everybody wants that someone should remember him or her! Also, it is equivocally important that you should also know somebody. And the best way to support it, is to become a part of it.

2. Well this point is important for those of you who are very practical and who believe in absolute materialism(Others, please ignore this!)........ Lets imagine a hypothetical situation, that tomorrow, you wish to switch your job in you dream company, after working in a slugfest organization for a couple of years, and you come to know that there was somebody back from the our college, who is presently working in that organization (which is an ideal opportunity for using the Power of reference), but this somebody does not know you, which lets you out of the Draw! Now what to do? There...you will recognize the importance of Networking? Oh Gosh, Why didn't I answered his call then? or, Jesus, why did I lost the opportunity to go forward and meet with him/her in person? If you feel that this may happen to you tommorow, then today is the right time to undo your past, and reach out to those, who you feel are untouchables....!!!

3. You come across a person, and you feel, Oh Heaven, He is So Cute!, or, Mother Mary Jesus! She Is So Beautiful!, and you start panting for a chance to make him or her feel that you were also there and everything happened before your eyes, but you did never dared to go that extra mile and reach out to speak, and make the other person feel that, even you were cute or beautiful (and then possibly shrug it of your shoulder!), which he or she might have missed. Today is the opportunity, to grab that opportunity, and I would suggest, Please Do that now!

If these three possible reasons does not satisfy your concious to start on the sojourn of networking, then possibly you have Not Understood Life To Its Fullest!!!

Today Is The Time To Do It....Don't Let Time Pass By....B'coz Tommorow You May Have To Sob...But To Solace!

Abhishek, I agree that it's a fight against the tide but I strongly disagree that we are loosing the battle....See you have one more warrior(me) joining this battle.... Very Happy

Let's join hands and spread this fact all around. I totally agree with Sumit, when he says that networking is important in today's world. Infact, it's the strongest tool to survive in the corporate as well as real world...

We all shoul have a sense of belongingness towards IBS... Cool

Come on Friends, lets join hands and feel proud to be a part of IBS... Smile

Cheers,
Kavita

A nice thread to reply after a really looong break.

Alumni network helps...
1. Make you feel a sense of belongingness
2. New job when you are frustrated with the current one
3. Who knows, tomorrow you may wake up and start a business. Your Alumni may invest:)
4. A lot of marriages are believed to be fixed in alumni meetings(Huge scope there)
5. Alumni meetings make you feel young by few years. Perfect stress buster.
6. You have never been respected as a student. You will get it when you are an alumni
7. Old boys networks are highly beneficial in the later stage of your career( especially in tough times)
8. Tell me 'who your friends are' I will tell 'who you are'. Same goes with Alumni.
