hello friends...

mine was on 7th(my lucky no.). Very Happy ..i reached hyderabad on 6th...and practiced my presentation for zillionth time ..before the d-day i had a lot of apprehensions regarding the interview as it was the first time in my life i was goin to face an interview ...we reached the IBS campus at 7 a.m (i was awestruck to see such a huge campus) Shocked ..my interview was scheduled at 9:15 and presentation at 12:15 ..

the interview was a bit too easy for me as i was a biochemistry student..they had few questions to ask me.. they asked me about..artificial intelligence...cloning...DNA synthesis...what is gene?...why MBA ?...what are ur weaknesses.?..why should we take you?....then they bombarded me with g.k questions ....cm of delhi....current affairs .. etc....i got them all..however they did try to make me nervous by firing questions one after the other and without giving me a chance to complete.

i was quite happy with my interveiw as i was able to answere all the questions ....just keep in my mind that u r thorough with all the basics of your course at university
and be confident.

the presentation was simply the best..as after the interview i was feeling confident....i did my best....keep in mind that you will be asked questions ..and to make your chances better you must try and intimidate your fellow candidates by asking them questions (and be prepared for the same)so read a little about all the
topics.... ..i asked almost all of them...there was one guy who went and did'nt speak a word. Embarassed ..to avoid that plz practice nicely and don't get intimidated..make sure you get right pronounciation and fluency .

this was all......i got bangalore campus(my second pref).. Shocked .and i am happy Laughing !!!

Hi all

Just i want to know in what basis they r selecting people ..Yesterday i had interview..

we have 12 member in a group and i can say all r just super..some guys r 3 + years of experince in infosys bla bla bla

After the interview we all happy becuz it was just super...they asked me my cat score (90) aand also asked my XAT score
and that is 93.3 .....They told hei its good....

And what can i say about MP....A guy from Infosys 3+ years of experince was fantastic in his MP but you know he got IBS NAGPUR....
Do he leave the job and go to NAGPUR....Its really a funny thing...

And in my presentation it was already 5 min gone and those panel member didnt give a ring atleast....that means they r not listening at alll..

That means in Interview also it is a matter of luck....as after doing a lots of work i got waiting list in NAGPUR why becuz i hav 2 + of experince in IT Industry.. And Can i go to LUCKNOW leaving my job here...no way and among the 12 members all most all rejected...

I think this my very bad experince in my life.... Today i came to know why colleges are differing in MBA..... After getting the letter i was crying like anything by holding my father as i hought dat i can select in Bangalore campus atleast if not HYD,MUM or GUR

GOOD bye IBS and i will never look you back.

Sorry people ..but i had told my experince....... all the best to all of u

Well I had my interview on 6th and here goes my experience:

Woke up at 5:30 in the morning and boarded an auto for Punjagutta from Madhavpur at around 6:15. Reached the ICFAI office by 6:40 and one of the last buses was about to leave.
It took an hour for the bus to reach IBS Hyd. campus at Dontanapalli. Boarded off the bus and was assigned a token number(1257, it was). Candidates were being called in for the registration process in the order of their token number.
Around 1300 candidates were divided in four groups i.e A, B,C and D. Then there was a sub-division of these groups i.e A1, A2,A3......, B1.......... A & B groups had their Micro Presentation(MP) and Personal Interview(PI) in the morning session stretching for 3 hours and starting at 9 am. I was assigned group number D17, serial number 7(7 proved to be lucky for me as all the three numbers till now had 7 in them).

Waited for my session as groups C and D had it from 1 pm. Feasted on the delicacies provided by the canteens.

Waited and waited and waited.........

Finally it was time and we were asked to assemble inside a big hall. The groups were then taken to their respective rooms. Our group had ten members(All Boys). There was nuffin cooked between us regarding the questions to be asked in the MP.
There were two panelists in the room and a podium was also provided along with that. The panelists briefed us about the division of marks in the MP. And so it all began...........
Remember guys, they don't give you full five minutes. The bell was rung after a period of around 4 minutes. Basically they were judging the amount of confidence and time management skills in the MP. So as soon as they ring the bell just come to the conclusion rather than having a look at them that brings out the inner urge "I want more time please". Don't start fumbling as well.
Another thing; its always better to present the topic without using the podium. You can show your body language and gestures in a better way. The panel is not sitting with a gun so that you need to use the podium in order to protect yourself. Just be confident and give in your best shot.
After the presentation there will be a question session for around 1-1.5 minutes wherein the other candidates from you group raise questions. You again need to show your confidence and communication abilities here. If you don't know the answer simply say "Sorry I won't be able to answer that query my friend".
Also keep in mind that you need to raise good questions being the spectators as they will also fetch you marks in the MP and show that you are a good listener. Don't ask questions like "Can you explain it again". Such questions will play negative in your part.

After the MP, we went for the PI. We were asked to wait in a room where candidates from other groups were also waiting anxiously for their turn,
crunching facts, figures and current affairs. We were assigned room number 47(OMG, 7 again Shocked ). Different panels were grilling students on different
types of questions. Some on GK, others on Acads. Luckily ours was focusing completely on acads, where I am a specialist.
So after some time came my turn. Though I was also nervous but it wasn't so overwhelming so as to prove as a barrier.
Remember Guys, its your confidence, communication skills, body language(once again) and positive attitude they are checking for in the PI. They are not checking your number crunching abilities. They've already done that in IBSAT.
So I knocked the door thrice and opened the door slightly to find the two butchers inside. Went inside and greeted both of the panelists. They offered me the chair."Thank You" Sir.
One of them was a Technical Guy who grilled me on acads and technical stuff the other was mum most of the time.
Techie Guy - TG
Specky Guy - SG
Your's truly - Me

TG - I see a lot of Rana's there days.
Me - *smiles*
TG - So is there any similarity between the Rana's of India and Nepal ?
Me - No Sir. We are the Indian Rana's and belong to the Rajput Family.
TG - And what about the Rana's of Nepal
Me - Sorry Sir I don't have an idea about them
TG - So you have a relation with Maharana Pratap ?
Me - Yes sir, we are the descendants of Maharana Pratap. There was a king after Maharana Pratap with whom we relate ourselves.(Thanks to the Gyan from Dad and Mom. It came in handy at this situation)
SG - What do you mean by "CPU Stack" ?
Me - Sir, blah blah blah........(I was not sure of this answer though but answered it with confidently)
*SG gave a sardonic smile and looked at TG and then made a gesture towards me so as to show down upon me. He looked towards me then in order to see my reaction to that. There wasn't a tinge of worry on my face which he was searching for. I maintained the sweet smile I was wearing all through the interview.
TG - Mr. Rana I think people like you should be in the Indian Army, then WHY MBA ?
Me - Sir I already have good skills in the field of IT and I have also realized that I possess good Interpersonal Skills as well. So if I make effective use of both I can be a much more successful person in life and my career.
TG - So which field do you want to specialize in ?
Me - Its Marketing, Sir.
TG - OK. So tell me if you own a computer company and have launched a new product, how will you market it.
Me - *After thinking for 1 or 2 seconds* Sir the first and foremost thing I need to do is Advertise my product very well. Advertising these days is something that decides the whether a product is a hit or a miss.
TG - OK. But what extra will you give to your customers as compared to other companies.
Me - Sir, these days the computer companies are not able to provide a good after sales service to their customers. This is where they lack and this is where I will lay a lot of emphasis in order to attain customer satisfaction.
SG(out of nowhere ) - Tell us which is your favorite subject from Graduation.
Me - Its Microprocessors and Networks, Sir.
TG - What is the difference between AMD and Microsoft.
Me - Sir shall I specify the difference between the companies or the solutions provided by them.
TG - The solutions. First of all tell me what is a CPU core.
Me - blah blah blah.........(Also stated the difference between the processors offered by AMD and Intel. Ek teer se do nishaane)
TG - Tell me the difference between a "CTR" and "LCD" monitor.
Me - Sir is that "CRT" ?
TG - Oh yes yes. CRT.
Me - blah blah blah..........
TG - *after having a look at my interests in the form where I specified "Playing Computer Games"* So which is number one game in the world ?
Me - *the ball was in my court now* Sir we divide games into different genres. When we talk of the First Person genre the number one game is "Call of Duty 4", when we talk of the strategy genre its "Warcraft", when..............
TG - *Interrupting in between* OK OK. Have you heard of Playstation ?
Me - Yes sir. Playstation 3 is the latest in the series being offered by Sony.
TG - Which console is the counterpart to Playstation 3 ?
Me - Its XBOX 360, Sir.
TG - Which Company ?
Me - Microsoft, Sir.
TG & SG together - Thank you Mr. Rana. All the Best.
Me - Thank You Sir.

THE END. And they lived happily ever after Laughing

All-in-all a good experience. The Hard Work paid off.
We had to wait for around 2-3 hours before the results were out. The anxiousness was more now than at the time of MP or PI.
So they called us in for handing over the letter on which the campus alloted to you is specified.
So finally yours truly was alloted Gurgaon Campus
Though was expecting Hyderabad. But I am happy as I went there for either of the two and got one

Guys they have already tested us for the 20% role IQ plays in the whole process. Its the remaining 80% that they are checking for in the MP and PI. Just go out there give in your best shot. Be True. Be Confident. Have a positive attitude along with the right body language and you are bound to sail in.

All the Best Guys.

Regards

I can see many people dejected after seeing the result Smile
I have somethings to tell to u all...

IBS is a corporate business school and unlike others it tries to evaluate the key skills of a manager like ..comm skills and the way u express ..

people who are experienced need not necessarily be gud at communication and presenting themselves Smile I think in a practical way .. I got blore campus last year and this year I hope to get hyd campus I have my MP/PI on 18th ..If I get a reject letter then that means I lost my performance curve to the earth Cool Cool Cool

So please dont feel bad about wat has happened ..IBS though is a gud place to learn myt not be able to cater for all the candidates coming Smile from long ...Please be brave friends therez nothing we are gonna loose ..remember always

Fortune favors the bold !!!and not everything can luck buy to u Smile

kudos to all those who got their dream campus !!

Very Happy well my interview n presentation was on the 11th .
before going to hyderabad i had a look @ this forum n followesd the advice to reach early to the punjagutta pick up point .
i would recommend the guys going for interviews to reach the punjagutta point by 6 o clock .
at 6 i got the first bus and thereby the 7th batch in b group . i was finished with the interviews n presentation by 11o clock .
i was selected for the Gurgaon campus . there was a girl in my batch who got the gurgaon campus but was crying so bad that she dint
get hyderabad . nywayz i am happy .
to the guys going for the process i would just say that confidence is the key .
just brush up your acads a little bit . i come from an engineering back ground so i was asked bout some but easy questions .
interview questions :
1. tell us something about your self .
2. what is a rectifier
3. what is a diode
4. what is isro (indian space rescearch organisation)
5 . where is it located ( sri hari kota and bangalore )
6 . what are navratna companies ( public sector undertakings like ongc , ntpc etc .. )
7 cheif minister of gujrat ( narandra modi )
8 . what is the current gdp ( over 1 trillion , 1.1 i guess )

my presentation was on CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY :
for people giviving the same presentation i would suggest to prepare some questions like
1. what is brand equity
2. if company pays so many taxes then can they afford csr and why .
these where the questons asked by the pannel
the students generally asked easy ones which could be answered .

i wish every body "ALL THE BEST ".
