abhishek sir, the prob is, admission dates for ISB and great lakes for 2008 have lapsed. so if thts the case i need to wait for another year! so does it make sense? i understand that it is a subjective decision but i ask u and prashant.. if u were to step into my shoes.. what u wuld have done?
prashant.. can u tell me little abt package the pharmacy guy got as domain expert?
one quick one... do they tell you ur percentile.. score or rank or anything in resultsin IBSAT.. it woul have been great document to flaunt it in front of my children or/and grandchildren , few years/decades from now.. hehehe.. wat say guys |
Hi Swaroop,
As Abhishek said it is subjective. Now what he meant by saying subjective is u have to weigh down your competencies viz a viz needed to clear these examinations.
Now let's put it in more chronological order so that you can understand how you can proceed.
Steps:-
1) You first have to decide whether you have to pursue MBA or not???
2) If yes(as it seems to be) then you need to analyse a few things
a) Will you be able to clear CAT next time?
(i) If you have not given CAT then you can't answer this q's to yourself as you will not be knowing the difficulty level it requires
3) Are you ready to wait for next year ? (purely depends on you...nbdy can guide you on this)
4) Are you ready to risk your present career when you opt for MBA and may be for IBS,Hyd
Let me tell you something that we study time n again in MBA institutes..There is always a TRADE OFF for any of your decisions.
By coming here you would be coming "Out of your Comfort Zone" to try out for "New opportunities". So definitely there is a "risk element" but on the other side there will be opportunities and rewards that your other colleugues(your medical counterparts) won't be able to acheive and you might scale heights in a matter of no time.
So just sit back think on these points take advise from as many friends (i would recommend take from those who are somewhat successful in their arena..specially if you can catch hold of some ISB guy) as you can and then take your OWN decision.
GO for the interview of IBS, weigh down your options and then decide whether you will be joining it or not.
Pharma guy had 10 yrs of Exp. in Sales and marketing division of Pharma and he got 11lac package...(caution:- He was from sales division so he had some prior work ex. in the dept. he got selected)
Regards,
Prashant

Since it's a new program by ICFAI so i can imagine that life would be a little tough for the first batch .....
But you guys would be the best source of information about the placements.....
I am in TCS for more than 3 years and wanted to know about the career opportunities after doing 1 year PG program from ICFAI,Hyd. Please suggest whether it would be a worth decision to spend 10 lac rs or i should stick with my current job. I am interested in doing an MBA but not sure about the placements for this course.

Hi friends
this is mohit.
i have been shortlisted for ibs 1 and 2 year programmes on the basis of gmat. interview is on 18th feb
i am new to the mba world and am very grateful to all the puys for their help.
i have also been shortlisted for isb and had my interview on 3rd jan.
My background:
mbbs with various international certifications
6 years medical experience./1 year international experience(UK)
GMAT 690
presently working in my own hospital.
I have not received the kit as yet but hope to receive it soon.
I was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to give me some input about what streams i could opt for. This is important because i will be asked "why mba?" and "why ibs?"
Thanks in advance.
Mohit

Just wait and watch for the placements to get over. Already 14 of us have got placed and the avg. package is 8 lacs uptil now.
infact i was for 3 yrs in INfosys and i got a 100% salary hike .(i have already got placed)
For IT guys i think this is a good place...but yes still for our batch there are some uncleared q's . Stuctured process is missing...but as they say all well that end's well...so if the placement goes fine then all is OK.
COurse structr is good....
I would recommend you to read my previous posts.

I would suggest you to give both the interviews with all your capabilites.
For IBS please wait and watch for the placements to get over. Definitely SP JAIN has a better brand name.
Once you have both the options and v appoach Feb. things from IBS placements side would be more clear.
I think you kit woudl be coming soon. Please get in touch with IBS management through phone for the same.
regards,
Prashant
