hi,
Well i can't compare the standards but i think standard depends on 2 factors
1) Faculty :- The faculty provided to us are the cream of IBS, Hyd. Whether they have been able to deliver it or not that's a different thing.
Since it's the first course of it's kind in IBS so they have tried thr best and belive me some of internal faculties have vast industry exp. and they delivered well. While some of them though they tried thr best were pathetic. Actually sometimes i really think that it may have not been their fault because these guys tried to teach in some different ways. So some of the ways were liked by the students and some were not.
Foreign Faculty:- We have visiting faculties from US , Australia and France for 3 courses.
Right now we have 1 faculty from IIFT and another one from Industry (not an academician)
2) Students : - It depends on students as they are the ones who drive the discussion. Infact it depends on the students what can they extract from the vast exp. of their faculty.
I cannot exactly comment on the quality of students(coz for comparing i need to know the students qualtiy of ISB and IIMS-->(though definitely they would be a notch higher but...)) but yes definitely in our batch very healthy and class enriching discussions do take place.
I joined because i knew ICFAI had a very strong/ decent name in the MBA league. Well it's obvious that i din;t clear CAT (with good score ) and also ISB ...that's y i joined IBS.
Well i am 80% satisfied with my decision as i have already got placed with a 100% hike from my previous package. but still there are some doubts and unclearity iver the whole system of placements.
I do think thr are many loopholes in the whole process of placements-->specially for us.
But then again you need to wait and watch till Feb....because by that time most of us would be placed.
In short--> Wait till feb...coz in MBA colleges evrything boils down to placements after you u had a good faculty.
Regards,
Prashant

Hi Swaroop,
I really don't have a fair idea about the kind of leverage you will get for being from the medical background.
In IBS there are guys from Sales division of Pharma but nobody has a good background like you.
What i have learnt about ISB thorugh my friends is they give credits to people from different background. Sporstman, Journalist etc etc. So you can definitely give it a try.
For ISB you will have to write GMAT, score i think(what i could remember) around 710+. Then the application would consist of 5 essays and believe me they are the heart and soul of your application. Each and every word written in the essays count.
Coming back to IBS, i really haven't met anybody who has a background like you. But IT companies have divisions like Health and Medical Sciences. Infact one of our colleagues who has a PHARMA background got selected as a DOMAIN EXPERT for Satyam. So i think you can get the maximum leverage there.
These days this VERTICAL is experiencing an enormous boom also.
The best thing for you would be to take help of a Career Counsellor or somebody who has more knowledge because i have a strong feeling that doing an MBA would help you tremendously.
regards,
Prashant

thankyou so much sir for your advice.
you have really put some spirit into me! well i just recieved email confirmation. short listed for executive mba. ibs-hyderabad on 14th feb. wish to meet you there!
so i am taking one step at a time!
sir i think i am asking you more and more intricate questions but please dont mind as you must have had fair knowledge that i am a dummy when it comes to this field...
so ,JUST IN CASE, i get selected for IBS-HYD executive mba for 2008, should i take it or should give one decent attempt with IIMS AND/OR ISB! for next year (2009)!??

Hi Swaroop,
i dont think Prashant or any1 else can give u a YES/NO answer on that. as u said u check out the details urself when u go for the interviews on 14th feb. its a highly subjective decison....at the end of the day the IBS mba would DEFINATELY help u a lot in long term. it may not get u desired placements coz of ur unique profile. id suggest first u apply to ISB and gr8 lakes too and keep IBS as a backup option.
best of luck and thnks Prashant once again to take out time from your tight schedule to guide aspirants here

abhishek sir, the prob is, admission dates for ISB and great lakes for 2008 have lapsed. so if thts the case i need to wait for another year! so does it make sense? i understand that it is a subjective decision but i ask u and prashant.. if u were to step into my shoes.. what u wuld have done?
prashant.. can u tell me little abt package the pharmacy guy got as domain expert?
one quick one... do they tell you ur percentile.. score or rank or anything in resultsin IBSAT.. it woul have been great document to flaunt it in front of my children or/and grandchildren , few years/decades from now.. hehehe.. wat say guys
