Hi Karthika,
Welcome to Ibs Rocks !
To start with i would suggest you to appear for GMAT and apply for international MBA colleges like NUS, ISB and Gr8 Lakes.Icfai 1 year Exectuive MBA is a relatively new entrant and thus would take some time to gain solid ground.
However you can be rest assured of good placement opportunities as ICFAI has built up strong brand within corporates and since this program has been specifically designed for aspirants with min 3 years of work ex.
Since you would be visiting the campus for the interview, ull get time to interact with the current batch(1st Batch) and you could get more first hand information and take an informed decison
So for now no harm in applying and giving it a shot. However your first preference should be better established Executive Programs like ISB and the kinds.
Hope this helps - and yes companies likes TCS,Infy,IBM do visit IBS

hello frnds,

I AM NAIVE TO MANAGEMENT, I APPEARED FOR IBSAT-2007 AND I MUST SAY I FOUND VERBAL QUITE EASY- OUT OF 120 I ATTEMPTED 100 AND I HOPE TO GET 90 CORRECT. BUT I BEING BIOLOGY STUDENT FOR DECADE NOW, I MESSED UP IN QUANT AND I ATTEMPTED 40 I GUESS AND I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT ACCURACY. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH ANSWER KEY HERE?
SECONDLY, I GAVE THIS FOR 1 YEAR EXECUTIVE MBA PURELY ON INTEREST AND I WOULD LOVE TO OPERATE AND EXPLORE THIS FIELD ,COZ AS AN ALIEN TO THIS FIELD I ONLY HAVE THIS CURIOUSITY ABT THESE BIG NAMES LIKE IIMS , IBS,XLRI ETC. DO I STAND A CHANCE OF GETTIN SELECTED WITH THIS MISERABLE PERFORMANCE IN MATHS!?
CAN YOU PLZZ GIVE ME SOME IDEA ABT THE PACKAGES THESE EXECUTIVE MBA STUDENTS GET, I HEARD FROM FEW THAT THEY GET SOMETHING IN ACCESS OF 20 LAC PER ANUM EVEN, I TRUELY FIND IT UNREALISTIC THOUGH!
PLEASE THROW SOME LIGHT ON MY QUESTIONS AND PLEASE DONT MIND IF YOU FIND MY QUESTIONS SILLY AS I AM A TOTAL MEDICO AND OUTSIDER TO THIS FIELD. THANKING YOU

Hi Swaroop,
First of let me congratulate u for aspiring for management education after a grilling doctorate education. tht certainly takes lot of passion !
IBSAT would be more of a formality for 1yr programme as its in its initial phaze, just started up last year. so u can definately start preparing for interviews to be held at hydbd
however i doubt if IBS 1 yr course would actually be value addition for som1 with your profile. whats ur trade-off. i mean have u taken up a job or started private practise.
its not just about placements.....id recomend u try only for IIM/XLRI 1 yr courses or even better go for MBA abroad as it would actually be a value addition
still no harm in giving IBS a shot, go for the interview, get ur addmission letter and then decide

thank you for such a prompt reply.
yes, i do have my clinic. so you mean to say IBSAT executive prog is not meant for me or it wont help me so much? why?
do you think i even stand a chance considering my performance in test? well to tell you how naive i am to this field ... can you tell me what is 'micropresentation'! is it different from paper presentations that we do?
can you tell me abt the packages an executive mba gets? arbitrarily?
any tips on preparing for interview?

hi swaroop,
see it all depends on how u utilise the platform. but still ill reccomend u to go for abroad colleges or if in india apply for executive courses of top institutes. tht would be value addition as u get right kind of exposure and networking.
IBS executive mba is very young though it has strong brand behind it, there is no placement record as first batch will pass out this year. avrge of 2 yrs fulltime course here is arnd 6L , so u can expect more being in executive course. but then there is placements statistics of the same
ud definately get an interview call as competiton wont be very high for executive course.
tips on interview - well just brush up on basics of ur backgrnd, academics and specially be clear why u want to go for mba after being a qualified dentist. i think ull sail through pretty comfortably

Hi Guys,
I would like to pitch in here...please let me know if you do/do not agree with me.
I have around 8 years of exp in HCL Tech and I was working as a associate Project Manager with salary of arnd 14 lac. But I resigned and if given a chance, I would definitely go for IBS Hyd - 1 yr course. The fees may be high but I came to know from the students studying there, that the curriculum and the faculty is excellent.
Coming to the placement part, I feel that even if you do not get a high starting pkg initially, you still have the edge becoz 1) u r an MBA 2)you are from a prestigious inst. Believe me, you can reach your dream salary and designation, sooner or little later, if you have the calibre to be there. If you do not have the skills, even IIMs cannot help you.
lot of gyaan, isnt it it.....India mein log muft ki salaah .........!!
Regards
Neeraj

Hi Neeraj,
why did u quit ?
well i agree to ur view that ur institute is as good as u are ! not even IIM can help , if u cant help urself. bt then IIM is so competetive , tht the process itself ensures tht only the exceptional guys make it !!!
its true an executive MBA course from IBS would do wonders to ur career - i just meant tht its in initial phaze of eastablishment , so one can try for better options like ISB/IIM/XLRI etc and keep IBS as a backup. though im sure within 3 years, IBS executive course would be among the best in industry- thnks to quality of applicants like u guys !
