Hello Friends,
1st of all thank you very much for this wonderful website for IBS aspirants. this ICFAI business school information site will help lots of IBSAT aspirants like me. I went through some topics on this IBS forum. & Its really great to find many current students of various Icfai Business School Campuses.
I hope my queries will be solved.
I have some question regarding IBS & IBSAT.
(1) I came to know that ICFAI business school is not AICTE approved. will I face any problem because of that ?
(2) Which are best business schools amongst all IBS campus. I know ranking is not possible. but a good list of prefference will be very helpful.
My friend said that IBS Hyderabad , IBS Guragaon & IBS Mumbai are Best. is it correct ?
(3) Is IBS good for Marketing Specialisation ?
(4) I m appearing for other MBA entrance exams also. What type of Preparation needed for IBSAT & How much aspirants are appearing for IBSAT 2007 ?
(5) I heard ki ICFAI has lots of seats. wont it make chaos at a time of placement ? How is placement scene at all Icfai Business School Campuses ?
(6) is it necessary to come to ICFAI Hyderabad for further process ?
Waiting for earliest reply. Thank you.

Hi neetu,
Now this is really encouraging for us to see aspirants here in ibsrocks!
Answering your questions one by one!
1. Yes, AICTE approval isnt there for IBS. Thus you would get a PGDBA degree and not a MBA one. Now dont hit the panic button right away! Because, even the BIG SHOTS like the IIMs also give the same degree. Will you get into problem? Even though I am not good at astrology, I see no problems due to this as ICFAI as a brand has a very nice name and has amazing brand reach. Also the corporates are recognizing the institute which is really more critical than the AICTE approval. Also you do get a MBA degree from IBS-Dehradun. So two degrees from one institute IBS REALLY ROCKS!!
2. Best among the IBS campuses. Hmmm, there is no such ranking. I would put it as each campus has its own advantages and disadvantages and NO ONE can really classify which is better. I am studying in Gurgaon and could list you lot of advantages or disadvantages, but mind you its my own perspective. So dont get into this ranking thingy. But for your satisfaction, I would say Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai are one of the prominent campuses while campuses like chennai, kolkatta are also vying for the top spot.
3. Yes, marketing is good in IBS! Its generally misunderstood to be a FINANCE oriented school, but trust me it is great in all departments! But if you go for the pay pockets, finance weighs you heavier.
4. IBSAT preparation is pretty simple. THey would give you a CD once you register and I would say work out that! Otherwise try being good at the vocabulary section!!
5. Lot of seats, hmm on the hindsight yes! But its upto you to shine in the large strength. Tell me one thing, where will you find a place which has the PERFECT things for you! Even in the corporate you got to battle against the large strength! Hmm, placements! We are in that stage now. But HOPEFULLY we wont have a problem. Previous batches havent been a problem, hope so not with us or the future.
6. Once you write the exam, you would be selected to give an presentation as well as an interview in Hyd. So i guess you need to go for the process there. After that you would stick on to the campus that your selected for.
Hope this helps and all the very best for your endeavours.

hello friends,
I am in my final year doing B. Tech. and am planning to give IBSAT alongside CAT. I wanted to know wheather preparing for CAT would be enough or anything extra needs to be done. I am taking coaching at IMS gurgaon and had given the first simcat of IMS in which I got 85 %ile. friends according to you approx how many students give the IBSAT exam. Also i hav got placed from my college with a package of approx 3.3 L/pa. so will it be good to go fo icfai or wait for another 1 or 2 yrs to gain Work ex and then do MBA.
Hoping for your guidance
thanks in anticipation.

hi sandy
prep for CAT would more than suffice. IBSAT is far easier - its more about speed & accuracy. all the sections should be a cakewalk
we have around 20,000 applicants and most of them get an interview call too
rearding ur career choice - could u detail the job profile, organisation and ur career objectives....u see such decisons are complex and subjective. but if u give us more details we may be able to give u some hints

hi
Sir currently I am doing my B. Tech from YMCA faridabad and have got placed in Infosys through campus with a package of 3.3 L/A and I am a resident of gurgaon. Sir I have interest in investment banking and finance although I am quite goood at programming also and love doing it but I know that ultimately I would be going in for a banking or investment related profile. So i am in two minds as what to do ? wheather I should go in for MBA straightway as my aim is that only or should i wait for a year or two and then go for an MBA from a premier institute then as my profile would augment me in getting a good college then.
But I hav a strong feeling going to do it straightaway as I think I would be Losing out on all the action and experience gained in my field of interest for 1 or 2 years due to my software job.
Please help me in deciding what to do.
hoping for your encouraging and constructive suggestions and guidance.
thanks.

Good to know your aims are clear. You should start working with Infy , dont give that up. Right now aim for the top 20 B schools....u have time in hand so dont compromise....some work ex always helps in MBA as u can grasp the concepts better than freshers. so carry on with ur prep @ CAT and see if u can make it to top b schools this year. or else next yr u can definately improve or even try for 1 yr courses....
as u said u got 85% in mock cat - so thts not bad - with some systematic prep u can cross 95% mark and get into top institutes....if not this year, maybe next year. no harm as ull be working and learning a lot on the job which will be valuable later on

Sir
One more thing I wanted to ask was that in the post named "IBSAT Forms out" in one of the replies it is written that we need to complete all our graduation requirements before 30th April, 2008. But this won't be possible for most of the engg students like me as our exams are going to get over by 3rd or 4th week of may, 2008. so please help me in clarifying this aspect. And also sir I wanted to know wheather IBSAT is a written exam just like CAT or computer based like GMAT as the statement everywhere that its going to be based on GMAT pattern has confused me.
THanks
