hi there
i also gave ibsat exam this year and expecting around 110-115 correct answers. I was surfing this site and saw some bad comments about icfai by its students only.
1) huge no of centers but symbiosis also has 12-13 colleges
2) faculty
3) huge no of students...
please help me out what should i do. i think total expenses will come out to be 7.5 lac+ 3 lacs= 11 lacs.
i am a bsc from DU and getting a offer of 18 k p.m in bank of america call center...
should i join icfai or not. please please please gimme a honest opinion. me and my family hopes are at stake.
please let me know how much time will it take for me to repay this 11 lacs.
how does icfai hyd /gurgaon rate vs likes of imi/ifmr/ welingkar?

tough one !
to begin with - its a highly subjective decison - wether something is worth or not !
for those who critise Icfai - thy must have reasons. however u can find faults with anything in life - or see the positives and make best use of them. its all in the atitude - the approach towards situations.....hope u get me
abt the course cost - i dont know how u arrived at 11L figure. but let me tell u cost isnt very different from most institutes coz it includes laptop, books etc and also u can get 2L scholarship (if u r in top 25% of the batch, if u dont deserve it anyways)
Bank of America recruits here too - package of 7L+ ...so think if u can reach same position in 2 yrs and also even if u do will ur growth after u reach tht figure be the same without an MBA degree ?
if u have a job, u have the luxury of dropping this year and tryng again next year. but i believe just do it ! no point working in a low end job with no value addition.
MBA from IBS is decent - provided u dont expect the world out of it and u understand that its not the institute but ur own capabilities which will decide ur career and success
You can go through campus charcha section on this forum , see how students feel abt thier experience @ IBS and decide for urself

hi
can you let me know what designation is offered by bank of america and what is cash in hand component out of 7 lacs ? actually what is worrying me huge batch size. That is the problem i think with icfai . IF they had people in 122-200 range then it would have been all fine..
btw how do u rate icfai as compared to welingkar? how are placement there ? are profiles there better than icfai ???
plz reply soon i am really confused ?
i also have secured 97.6 percentile in mat. can i get any college better than icfai with that score? how is alliance /bimtech?

Designation was asst manager. in hand is more than 50K , will find out exact figures n let u know
batch size is a positive. if IbsRocks can unite them - imagine the networking and alumni base all ur bosses will be frm IBS....hehe
comparisons arent useful trust me. but for the sake of ur guidance - yes IBS is as good as Wellingkar/IMI . they are bit better rather. if u get into any1 of them - go for it instead of IBS. but u may end up with better placements in IBS than in Wellingkar - u can never say. here companies offering 12L have also come - so it all depends what ur abilities are
but overall Yes - anyday go for IMI. IBS is a next good option incase u dont convert IMI types.
Regarding MAT - just forget it

hi
i was going through icfai hyd placement i mean companies which came and i saw mostly financial majors came. even many kpo and equity research companies came. i think hyd campus is tilted towards fianance but thats what i want to do..
i really think icfai people do manage to bring companies to the campus so opportunities r there if u r good enough . maybe more than that of imi etc. infact imi highest has been 9 lacs this year only..
lets see what happens. aacha can u tell which company offered 12 lacs package and what was the designation?

Shivani..here's a bit of a frndly advice...ask urslef first whether u want 2 really take up a career in management or not...it isn't always the pay package which matters but the kind of job satisfaction u're deriving working @ that particular package is what matters more..seemingly u don't sound 2 inclined 2 join BoA as a call center agent..if that is actually the case then it's always better 2 go in 4 an MBA..an MBA is more like a long-term investment and u can't always look only at the immediate gains(like CTC of ur campus job etc.) 2 judge its worthiness..rather b assured that 10 yrs after u complete ur MBA u'll b a lot better placed than ur batchmates who didn't opt 4 an MBA..as 4 ur other concerns :
1) ICFAI really has a huge # of centres and students...out of these Hyd is the 1 which has a decent brand visibility amongst most big corporate houses..atleast this is what I've observed on a personal basis being a part of the recruiting panel of a consulting major for the past 3 yrs...u were right 2 point out that even Symbiosis has 12-13 centres but then again SCMHRD and SIBM r the only 2 top shots brands..these two are the "flagbearers" of the Symb brand..
2)faculty is as good as in any decent B-school...am commenting abt Hyd'bad tho'...
3) huge # of students is a drawback as well as a strength..look at it this way..800+ ppl in the 2007 passout batch of IBS Hydbad were placed @ an avg of 6.5 lpa +..so that's a real commendable achievement..when companies come down to recruit and see such a huge # of students they perceive this more as an opportunity than nething else nowadays considering the recent job boom atleast..
finally coming 2 ur last query...tho' I'm personally against all sorts of B-School comparisons and even after given the fact that I was attached 2 IBS Hyd'bad I'd still say IMI is a tad better than IBS-H(brand and placement wise) while Wellingkar is a tad below..IFMR doesn't really measure up to IBS-H at all..
4 ne further queries do let us know..

Hi,
I got IBS Hyderabad just one week back for batch 2008-2010.and don't have any other call for any B-school with me.
I have 2 + years work exp in IT industry and my current CTC is around 4.5L.
I just wanted to know would it be worthy enough to leave my job and join IBS hyderabad for 2 years MBA program.
Ya....I want to change my career path and now more interested in finance domain.....could you please suggest me salary packeges that are being offered to students with 2 years work exp with specialization in finance.
To add more...would it be better for me to wait for one more year and then Join 1 year executive course....Please guide me..
Thanks in Advance.

Hi All,
My name is Preyas.
I am a B.E.-IT(2005 passout) with 2.5 years of Exp. in IT.
Currently I am working with Merrill Lych(India). Before this I was working with HDFC BANK.
My current pay package is around 5.2 + Onsite Opportunity
I had filled Mumbai Campus as my first preference and got the same.
I have also given CET but the results will be very late.
Now my question is that I am unable to decide that does it make sense for me to quit such a job and pay 7.5 (which according to me is high for IBS) and than start with a similar pay package.
Also I want to get to a business kind of profile asap.
I also want to know that should I go for some part time MBA instead of IBS-mumbai.
I know that these are too many confused kind of questions. So would really appreciate help from seniors.
Thankxx in Advance!
