Hi Everybody,

I got Hyderabad in my final selection this sunday. A little background check, I am from IT industry having 20 Months of wrk ex till FEB, and a ctc of 3.4 L/a [ which is just for namesake ;p ]... I was unable to convert any other call besides this, but I am overjoy'd and a little confused after converting this one.

An reality check is sought on the following points that I consider relevant:

- Will it be wise to go ahead and grab this opportunity, considering the fact that salary will matter after investing around 10 lakhs here?
- Secondly, Is the new campus functional, I did not see any seniors around to cross question? If no, then What is the estimated time IBS has given for its completion and Will the new batch be accommodated there?
- Lastly, Will a work Ex of less than 2 yrs considered at the time of placements? (I went through most of the threads on placements and the threshold point was 2 yrs)?

Please consider this as part of a General discussion question, in which all the Seniors and the newly selected batchmates should contribute and add freely...

On a lighter note... KUDOS!!! to all who got through IBS; esp HYD... Hope to see you there.

My apologies in advance if all these turn out to be hoax...

Regards.
Rahul

Hey rahul,

Congrats bro!!for IBS-HYD,well about the new campus surely i'm not the one to answer Smile ,however i surely would like to say that the kind of work experience you have in the industry will surely help you at the time of the placements,it depends how good you can portray your experience in front of the recruiters.

Well the placements at HYD has always been good for the past years and seeing the trend i think it wil continue to do so in the future as well, lastly i think if you think on the monetary terms IBS HYD is surely a tough bet Smile but u must consider your options at this time ,you have only three options.
1.Leave this one and sit for CAT 2008,by then you will already have a good work experience under your belt.
2.Sit for GMAT if and go abroad(if you can do that) and continue with your job till you get an admission in a good university.
3.Lastly take up IBS-hyd
The above options were the only ones available for me as well,so think about...cheers!

VG

Hey Vikas,

Thanks for the insight. I have thought over the options presented by you earlier also. Here is what all I have been through whie taking a decision

- I am giving Cat for the past 2years now and m bit on da "dark side of the moon". Easier said than done, but every year the competition for a seat in a top Bskool is geting tougher and costlier (m talking about some top notch players in this Education BuSINess, which feel proud in taking some superficially gifted rich man's kid)

- Regardless of that, even if i try for the Next year, it will be a gamble.

- For GMAT, well its on the cards, but i'll be giving it aroung April-May, but before that I'll need to confirm my seat in HYD no matter if I need to shed those 80K in disdain.

- Next, i personally feel there's no point waiting another year to join IBS, especially if I have a chance this year. And Personally, I am FEDddUP of the word IT..

Neways, I'll still continue my search for the answers to my earlier questions, so guys please be generous and let the influx of information light the hearts of the young who desire it.

Regards.
Rahul
