Hi Sattynaren

Well pre MBA experience always makes a difference and gives u an edge atleast in ur self confidence and body language. rest all depends on how value adding your stint actually was, how well you can potray it and harrness it.

But yes it does give u a headstart , though it may not mean a guranted interview conversion as such.

This time we have certain foreign placements reserved for people with 2+ yrs work ex. so there u go Razz

I believe that students will Work.Ex gains the maximum out of an MBA program. People who have seen the real life in their SIP will vouch for this....

No doubt that they get a head start, however active freshers are more open and hence come out as a fresh and energetic product.

Difference lies in the productivity on employment. On Job, experienced MBA's may be productive from day1 & it takes a couple of months for freshers..

Hello rocker,

Well, iff you have work the chances of your getting a good IBS centre is increased to certain extent Wink ,The work experience will only be given weightage if you are able to covince the interview panel about the skill that you've developed while working,it depends on you how you present yourself with that work ex. of yours,so make sure that you do your homework Smile .Good luck...cheers!!

Speaking from this years placement record. "Work experience even for four years in a relevant field will not promise you a job".
Scary?
People with relevant experience with less than standard communication skills have found it very difficult to sell themselves. What if you have the work experience but unable to crack GD's or impress the panel?

My suggestion would be to work in this priority:
1. CGPA - 7 plus
2. Group Discussion skills
3. Domain knowledge(though ranked 3rd, read it as 1st)
4. Convincing skills
5. Other interview skills

Thats again amazingly said by you Krish. U Rock !

Im an example. I have arnd 4 yrs work ex pre mba and it didnt help much (though i did crack interview on Day 1 of placements itself).

Its good to have work ek- but its meaningless if the work ex is on paper but didnt improve your personality and communication skills. Thats why they call it RELEVANT Experience and not just any experience.

On that note any job is relevant - if u can convince the panel that it was a value addition to your overall skillsets
